In 1999, armed with an Electrical Engineering degree, 14 years of corporate management experience with Hoechst Celanse, and a restless entrepreneurial spirit, Francisco Alvarado decided to embark on a new business venture. With a passion for service and a vision for excellence, he established Marand Builders Inc. as a customer service company that happens to do construction.
Since Marand’s inception, our goal has been to understand the individual needs of our customers and provide them with a customized solution. We have built our reputation on unrivaled customer service and premier quality of execution. Our success comes from providing our clients with the best construction experience.
Francisco Alvarado
CEO & President
Francisco is the President and CEO of Marand Builders, Inc., a commercial general contractor that serves the South East & Mid-Atlantic. Francisco is passionate about local community involvement, which is reflected in Marand’s purpose of “Building a Better Community”. Francisco is a board member of the Charlotte Executive Leadership Council (CELC), Fifth Third Bank and the Charlotte Sport Foundation. He previously served on the board of CBI, LDI, LACC, the Charlotte Symphony, and Opera Carolina. Francisco is most proud of his involvement in the Marand Builders Scholarship Fund for Latin American and African American students who aspire to major in engineering or a technical field. Francisco’s leadership purpose is to create a safe and positive environment where Marand family members can focus on service, growth, and innovation.
Luis Romero
CFO
Luis Romero, Marand Builders' CFO, has over 18 years of construction finance expertise and demonstrated success, with 15 of those years being at Marand. This year, Luis is a proud finalist for Charlotte Business Journal’s prestigious CFO of the year award. His MBA and proven leadership in orchestrating financial operations, guiding teams, and delivering exceptional results underscore his strategic acumen. As a Board member of LAWA, an engaged participant in CFMA Charlotte Chapter, and a member of CFLOC, Luis exemplifies dedication to driving financial leadership and fostering industry connections.
Jeannette Alvarado

JEANNETTE ALVARADO
VP OF FINANCE,HR DIRECTOR
Jeannette joined Marand in 2004 with 15 years of loan underwriting and management expertise. Her credit and finance background has brought valuable insight and as HR Director and VP of Finance, Jeannette provides guidance on HR compliance as well as financial strategic planning. Jeannette holds a B.S. degree from Rutgers University and is a licensed NC Real Estate Broker.
Nathan Hayes
VP of Operations, Florida & Georgia
Nathan Hayes is a Jacksonville native, graduate of University of North FL, Bachelor of Science Building Construction Management. He has been in the construction/real-estate industry for over 20 years. He is currently the Senior Vice President of Marand Builders, Inc., and manages the Florida/Georgia operations for Marand Builders, Inc. In which is a commercial contracting company that specializes in critical facility and financial institutional fast track projects throughout the state of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia.
Eric Mungo
VP of Operations - Carolinas, Mid-Atlantic & Texas
Eric has more than 30 years of experience in the commercial construction industry and brings expertise in operations, project management and pre-construction. As Vice President of Operations, Eric is responsible for managing the operational functions of the Carolinas, Mid-Atlantic, and Texas. Eric is a U.S. Army veteran and believes in the power of teamwork.
Andres Alvarado
VP of Business Development & Marketing
With 10 years of construction experience, Andrés creates and facilitates business relationships with new and existing clients throughout Marand’s footprint. Andres started his career with Marand in Site Supervision and Project Management before transitioning into Business Development. With this experience, he can understand clients’ needs from a technical perspective and is an asset to the client throughout the project.
Clint Hale
Director of Business Development
Clint Hale has spent 18 years in real estate and construction, working with start-up, mid-size, and Fortune 500 companies to grow their footprint and market share. His ability to build and hold trust across entire organizational structures and myriad stakeholders is crucial from project concept through execution. As Director of Business Development, Clint forges relationships with both new and existing clients, with special emphasis on our Georgia and Florida markets, and helps guide Marand’s BD and Marketing strategy. Clint holds a B.A in Economics from Indiana University and resides in Jacksonville, FL, with his wife and two daughters.
Nate Dickinson
Director of Preconstruction
Nate Dickinson has 20+ years of general contracting and commercial construction management experience in new construction and renovations in all markets. As Corporate Director of Preconstruction, he is responsible for the leadership and oversight of Marand’s preconstruction department including managing staff, develop/manage consistent processes, and ensure achievement of company financial goals, values, and mission as related to preconstruction. Nate holds a BS in Building Construction Management from the University of North Florida. Locally Nate serves on the Borad of Directors of the Florida First Coast Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), Urban Land Institute (ULI) Programs Committee, and is a Trustee Member of JAX Chamber (Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce).
Marcelo Alvarado
Assistant Vice President
Marcelo has 9 years of project management and engineering experience working in construction, biotechnology, and manufacturing sectors. As the Director of Sustainability, Marcelo strives to reduce the impact of Marand Builders as a company while still providing the highest quality construction service to our clients. As the Director of Technology, Marcelo determines how to leverage technology to improve the operations of our jobsites with a focus on efficiency, reduction in rework, and elimination of waste. Marcelo holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
Carrie Woodard
Regional Director, Mid-Atlantic
Carrie Woodard has more than 20 years general contracting and commercial construction management experience in new construction and renovations in all markets including office, retail, healthcare, and financial. As Regional Director, Carrie not only manages operations in the Mid-Atlantic Region, she also oversees crucial responsibilities such as proper completion of projects and prides herself on maintaining client relationships. Carrie holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee State University.
Gunson Wood
Regional Director, South & West Florida
Gunson has over 25 years of experience as a skilled general contractor with well-developed project management, job scheduling and thorough understanding of cost estimating. He has an extensive knowledge of residential and commercial construction, renovation and ADA compliance modifications. Gunson has a proven ability of managing sub-contractors, labor, equipment and materials necessary to complete projects on time and within budget.
Brian Borges
Regional Director, Carolinas
Brian Borges has over 20 years of experience as a general contractor specializing in the commercial, retail, and hospitality sectors. Brian has worked in markets throughout the U.S. with focus on urban areas and challenging logistics. His experience in multiple sectors and markets brings a diverse wealth of knowledge to Marand. As Regional Director, Brian is responsible for overseeing all construction operations in the Carolinas and ensuring compliance with Marand’s core values. Brian is LEED certified and holds a B.S. in Construction Management from Roger Williams University.
Kate Mattox
Director of Human Resources
Kate brings over 10 years of comprehensive HR expertise to her role as Human Resources Director. She is responsible for acting as the company's HR representative and exercises making employment decisions related to all HR focuses. Kate is committed to aligning HR practices with business objectives and fostering a culture representative of Marand’s values. Kate holds a B.S. in Business Administration with a Human Resources Concentration from North Carolina State University. Kate is passionate about community engagement and serves on the board of She Built This City and is a member of the Education Working Team of the Charlotte Executive Leadership Council.
